7 Tips for Taking Care of Children

by Lillie Oliver

In caring for children as a part of your daily life, you may find kids moods range from feeling "so bored" to excessive chaotic excitement almost about noting at all. A little prelude to taking care of tots can turn long hours spent with little monsters into enjoyed and valuable time spent with little angels.

When Taking care is child's play

1. ORGANIZING PLAY AREA & TOYS
The thing to keep in mind is that you want to set the mood for play time. When play area is organized and neat, little ones can pick and choose more precisely what they want to play with. A nice new fresh start in getting ready for play often feels better than picking up where things were left off in a mess.

2. CHANGE THINGS UP OFTEN
You may be surprised how this little tactic works wonders. Something as simple as rearranging the play area can enhance a fresh new start at play with more enthusiasm.

3. CREATE SCENES
This has the same effect as rearranging play areas. Placing a few character dolls on a shelf in a way that invites your little one to take notice, or put some building blocks on the window sill with a few little cars or characters place on them to create a scene. There is no need to point these out, just let them stumble upon them, like little notes stating you care.

4.SET MIRRORS MIRRORS ON THE WALL
Mirrors works wonders for child's play. I am not sure why, but they always add a little magic to the course of play. This could be due to little ones enjoying a glimpse at themselves having fun, or simple them enjoying the glassy sparkling open spaced look to the room.

5. HAVE VIDEO & BOOK OF THE WEEK
A special time to focus on a book or video story puts play time aside but still is about having a good time. When you emphasize a video or book of the week, you can turn a fun time into a learning experience by drawing attention to questions and answers about the story or a character in a story. Using material as a weekly theme gives children something to think and talk about over time.

6. CLEAN UP CLEAN UP
Developing responsible behavior comes when everybody does their share in cleaning up. Clean up habits are very good to instill as soon as possible with kids. They easily make messes, but often run the other way when it's time to clean up. Children learn to not be so messy when they are the ones cleaning up the play area themselves. This also helps you in getting creative with changing things around and setting scenes with the toys for them to find the next time it's time to play. Remember at first this may seem hard to instill, but in time it habitually gets better.

7. GET JIGGY WITH IT
Music and dancing are always fun. Even if a child is too shy or not too fond of music and dance, they often get a kick out of watching you jiggle to a beat or two. To save time music and dance can be centered around clean up time. When this activity is at specific times, it gives little ones something to look forward to.

Taking care of children can be very delightful for both children and the care giver. Routines help in scheduling activities, but they are also a great foundation for changing things up to spice up a mood once in a while too.
